ADOPTED!

SABINE

Sabine is now ready for a foster-to-adopt home!  She still has some additional vetting to be done, which Dog Speed will be doing before her adoption can be finalized. Thus we’re seeking a foster-to-adopt home within reasonable driving distance of Sabine’s vet to accommodate her upcoming spay and dental appointments.

Sabine is a 6 year old Maltese, approximately 7 lbs and an absolute doll!  She will give you kisses and loves to be in your lap or laying beside you.

A breeder gave Sabine to a woman who then contacted Dog Speed to rehome her due to house-training issues.  Turns out she has some health issues that needed to be addressed.

It was confirmed through medical tests that Sabine has Cushings disease.  She takes one pill a day to control this and will need to remain on meds for the rest of her life. During a recent follow up vet appointment, more tests were done that now show Sabine also has diabetes.  We are working on adjusting her insulin to the best level for her.  Once both the Cushings and diabetes are controlled, we can proceed with her spay and dental.  When these surgeries are done, her adoption will be finalized to her forever home.

Sabine’s vision seems to be compromised but she gets around fine if she’s familiar with her surroundings and things don’t get moved around.  She’s great about doing her business outside or on pee pads.

The ideal home for Sabine is with someone who is home most of the day, as she craves human company. She tolerates small dogs that are around her size but is nervous around larger dogs. She has not been exposed to cats. No small children please, due to her size and limited vision.  Please note that Sabine has previously been de-barked but will still make the motions to bark.

ADOPTED! (foster-to-adopt)

KATIE

Katie is a female bichon frise, approximately 8 or 9 years old.  Dog Speed recently had a dental done for her and she is now up to date on her shots.

Katie was originally rescued from a puppy mill, then lived in a situation where she did not get any attention or training.  We think she's lived most of her life in a cage.  Her foster is working on her potty- and leash-training and she’s been doing very well.

She arrived pretty much shut down, scared of everything - empty eyes, no personality.  Through patience and routine, Katie is slowly coming to life and learning how to be a dog.  She does not know how to play yet and toys are of no interest to her at this time but we’re working on it.  She has recently started exhibiting joy and interest in things and her lovely sweet personality is starting to shine.

Katie has made great strides thanks to her senior foster dog friend, whom she adores and follows everywhere, emulating whatever the other dog does.  This has been a great help in Katie’s learning curve and we will be seeking a forever home with another gentle calm dog to continue showing her the ropes.  She trusts the other dog much more than her foster human and having the other dog with her all the time eases her anxiety.

She loves walks and now walks well on a leash, but she will only walk behind you, she seems to need to keep an eye on people at all times.

Katie needs a quiet home without children (kids tend to move fast, run around and make noise and that would terrify her).  She will need a home where her forever human does not push physical contact on her, who is patient and will provide consistent daily routine because that really helps overcome her fear.  She may never be a super cuddly lap dog, but she has just recently started accepting pets and seems to like them, so one day its likely she will be affectionate and seek out attention - but we're not there quite yet.

ADOPTED!

LUNA

Luna is a spayed female shih tzu / yorkie cross, approximately 3 years old. We are unsure of her history as she was found stray.

She is crate-trained and walks well on a leash. She loves to play fetch and knows sit, stay and come. She can be affectionate and cuddly but only on her own terms, she is generally aloof.

Luna does not like her space invaded. She is anxious around strangers and may bite if they attempt to pet her.  Even if someone she trusts tries to pet her when she is not receptive at the time or if caught off guard, she may attempt to bite.

Her perfect home will be an experienced, quiet "homebody" type of person who is happy to just hang together without the need to always pet her.  Over time, with patience and a consistent routine, she may return to her sweet, affectionate self once her self-esteem improves and she loses her anxiety - or she may always stay aloof - her person should be okay with either outcome.

Luna is currently fostering at a kennel after being returned due to her jealousy of the other dog in her recent adoptive home. So she will need a home where she is the only dog because she is dominant with other dogs, although she can get along with other dogs on neutral territory.  She loves being outside, rolls in the snow and is non-reactive to dogs on the other side of the fence but will growl at dogs going past her kennel. She greets happy and with tail wags but can become anxious if approached too fast or close.

The home should be someone who does not have children (including visiting children/grandkids) nor frequent visitors.

No apartments or townhouse applicants please, to avoid meeting strangers when taken outside for potty, and because she can be a barker (her stranger danger issue again).

If you are a quiet homebody who wants a canine roommate and to give a little girl a chance to “just be”, please contact June at june.dogspeed@gmail.com

ADOPTED!

BELLE

Belle is a beautiful black and white kitten who is estimated to be about 5 to 6 months old and she is the most kind, sweetest, and loving kitten.

Belle can sit on your lap for hours upon hours! She is very people-oriented and will follow you wherever you go to get as much attention and love as she can. She is litter trained and has experience with small dogs only.

Bell and another cat, Ryder, were both dumped in a cornfield by a man who did not want to take care of them anymore. Both kittens are as soft as silk.

They do not need to both go to the same forever home but its preferable they both get homes where someone is there most of the day, as they are very high energy kitties who love constant attention. Wherever you go in the home you know they will be close behind!

ADOPTED!

RYDER

Ryder is a small grey and white kitten who is estimated to be about 2 months old and he is the funniest kitten ever! While Ryder is adventuring, he try’s to act tough and pretend he doesn’t want your attention but as soon as you pick him up, he is the biggest suck ever and loves to be pet for hours.

Ryder is completely litter trained, likes all attention and loves playing with his toys.

Ryder is good with small dogs but has not had any experience with large dogs.

Ryder and another cat, Bell, were both dumped in a cornfield by a man who did not want to take care of them anymore. Both kittens are as soft as silk.

They do not need to both go to the same forever home but its preferable they both get homes where someone is there most of the day, as they are very high energy kitties who love constant attention. Wherever you go in the home you know they will be close behind!

ADOPTED!

KETZY

KEtzy is a female bichon frise, approximately 8-9 years old.  She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on her vaccinations.

Ketzy and two other bichons came to us from another rescue group who rescued them from a puppy mill.  Unfortunately, they did not get any one-on-one attention nor training in the home they were in, so came to us very scared of people, not potty or leash trained and did not know what a toy is or how to play.  The foster homes they went into have all been working on these issues.

Ketzy is finally at a stage where she is ready for her forever home.  She’s a lovely dog and is starting to show her personality. She loves to be where her people are and accepts pets and cuddles but does not actively seek attention. She’s happy to be in the same room as people. She does better with woman over men, just ignores men. She lives with another dog who helps show her the ropes and would do very well in a home with another friendly calm dog.  She requires a lot of praise and she is highly food motivated.

She is 95% house trained, will use a pee pad if left for periods longer than 5 hours.  She walks okay on a leash - her training on leash is still a work in progress.

Ketzy needs a quiet patient home where she will continue to get the attention and training she needs.  She’d be a great fit for an active senior couple.  She is a real sweetie and deserves to finally have a forever home that meets her needs.

Hickory is the last of her litter to not have a family waiting for her once ready to go.

ADOPTED!

HUFFLE

Huffle is a 2 year old great Pyr. cross who was a chained dog all her life - she still isn’t fond of being in the house.   She spends the day while her foster is at work and nights in the house. She may panic but isn’t destructive. She is now 50% crate-trained and completely house-trained. She walks fairly well on leash but can pull if she gets excited.

ADOPTED!

KIWI

Kiwi is an 8 or 9 year old female Bichon Frise.  She is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed.

Kiwi is from a puppy mill originally and lived in a home where she wasn't able to get one-on-one bonding and was not potty- or leash-trained. Since being with her foster, she has demonstrated she enjoys one-on-one attention and has learned really fast.   She is very good with letting her foster Mom know when to go outside.  She is crate trained and has since learned to walk on a leash too.

She is a really sweet girl and has come a long way in a short time.  Kiwi would benefit from a quiet home where she gets to spend lots of time with her people.  She lived with other dogs but is unknown with children - also unknown with cats.

PIPER

Great Dane / Mastiff mix - courtesy post for Great Dane Angels Rescue

Piper Update

We are convinced that there is a home out there for every Dane and Piper is in need of a very special home. Piper has been waiting for a while for that.   She is a spayed Dane/Mastiff cross. This little bundle of joy is almost 2 years old now.

Piper is in need a rural home with little to no company. She is best suited to be in a home with no other dogs but is great with cats. Children in the home is not recommended. It takes time for Piper to warm up to people so it is necessary for her to be muzzled when meeting people until she gets to know her company after a few visits.

If you think you have the perfect home for Piper, please go to our website and fill out an inquiry to give this amazing little girl a wonderful forever home of her own. Our website address is www.greatdaneangels.org

SABLE

UPDATE:  SABLE'S FOSTER HOME ARE MOVING OUT OF PROVINCE - WE NEED A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME FOR SABLE ASAP!

Sable is desperate to find a home of her own.  She has been in our care for over 6 months now with ZERO interest. It's coming to a point the foster’s cat is beating her up and fighting her all the time, she's having to be secluded to her own room away from everything.

Sable arrived to us in early March, heavily pregnant, from a high-intake shelter in Quebec after being found as a stray. The way she acted she most likely never lived in a home with people before. She raised her 5 little panthers into healthy beautiful kittens who all ventured off into their own homes. Sable is 2 years old, spayed, fully vaccinated, dewormed, flea treated, microchipped and comes with a 30-day trial of pet insurance.

Sable gets along with dogs and cats, and is best suited to a quieter home with no children under 15. Sable is very nervous kitty, she needs lots of patience, time, and tones of love to learn to get comfortable with you. She is super comfortable with her foster whom she gives kisses, rolls over, and comes for attention.  She enjoys being with people but loud noises or sudden movements still send her flying. She has a special adoption fee, please PM or email Amber at amber.dogspeed@gmail.com for more information!

ZULO

his handsome dude arrived from a high-kill shelter in Quebec as a 2 month old feral kitten. He is a handsome grey boy with faint tabby markings, neutered, fully vaccinated, dewormed, flea-treated and microchipped.

He loves to give kisses any chance he can, cleaning your fingers and legs if you'd let him. He loves to rough house with his siblings, chase them around, and LOVES the laser pointer. When he is ready to nap or feels nervous you can always find him in his security spot, which is his cat tower.

He gets along with other cats and needs a cat buddy to live with.  If you don't already have a cat and are interested in Zulu and a buddy for him, check out Echo, his brother, who is also available for adoption!

Zulu is great with dogs, and best suited to a home with children 12+ as very young children make him nervous.

Echo can be a little shy at first but once you spend some time with him he becomes a super social friendly boy. He he is a very curious, adventurous, smart guy who always looks like you can see his brain working with everything he is doing. Echo is very playful, always rough-housing with his siblings, chasing them and running around. He LOVES the laser pointer and could spend hours playing with it.

He gets along with other cats and needs a cat buddy to live with.  If you don't already have a cat and are interested in Echo and a buddy for him, check out Zulo, his brother, who is also available for adoption!

ADOPTED!

DRAKE

Drake is a Chihuahua / Jack Russell Terrier mix, about 1-1/2 years old, 15 lbs.

He had a rough start in life but is such an affectionate and happy dog. He can be timid when he first meets new people but will warm up to them.  He can get scared in loud and hectic environments.

Drake is good with kids but would be better in a household without very young kids. He gets along well with other small/medium size dogs. He is a fast learner and treat-motivated. He is very good at sleeping quietly in his crate at night.  He loves playing fetch with his ball and cuddling on the couch under a blanket.

Drake is up to date on all his shots and will be neutered Aug 9th then he will be ready to go to his forever home. He is currently being fostered in London, Ontario. An adoption application can filled out at dog speed animal rescue https://www.dogspeedanimalrescue.org/

If interested in Drake, please contact Brenda at brenda.dogspeed@gmail.com

ic for him -  a home with just females & perhaps kids visiting would be his ideal home.

He gets along well with other small/medium sized dogs. His foster mom is working on potty training as he can spray a little when he is scared or excited.

He loves playing fetch with his ball and cuddling on the couch under a blanket.

ADOPTED!

PIPPIN

Pippin is an 8 year old Yorkshire terrier mix but he certainly doesn’t act his age!  He loves to run around and play so would be best suited in a home with a fenced-in yard where he can burn off some energy.  He is fully house-trained and gets along fine with small dogs, but does not like larger dogs, especially when he’s on a leash. He is not suited for a home with cats nor an apartment setting. He will need a bit of work on leash walking, as he pulls and will bark at other dogs.  He has lived with young children in the past however we are asking for a forever home with either no children or older children, unless they are extremely dog savvy.

ADOPTED!

SENA (aka "Hips")

Sena arrived to us from a high-intake shelter in Quebec after being surrendered at 8 wks old. She has a congenital deformity in her hind legs where she has no hips, her bones are created backwards, they lack proper curve, her knees are displaced, and has very slight muscle mass back there making her back legs straight 24/7 and unable to bend.

She gets around all by her front half, lifting herself around, dragging herself and sometimes even walks funny on the legs. She knows no different and thinks she is just like any other kitten; she rough houses, cuddles, pulls herself up onto things.  She will never get around like a normal cat and will always have limited ability on those hind legs but she will always know no different in life. She is currently going through rehab to hopefully build her partial muscle to sustain her weight.

Once Sena has completed her medical and rehab regime, she will become available for adoption so stay tuned - check out our FB site for ongoing Sena updates!

ADOPTED!

BANDIT

Hi everyone, I’m Bandit, formerly Irwin.  I’m having a really hard time finding a new home even though I’m a great guy.

I’m young (2 years old), neutered and up to date on my vaccinations.  I'm physically fit, love activities but also love snuggling on the couch. I’m really smart and I could be like that dog on tv that does all those tricks if someone has the time and patience to teach me.

I’ve got a couple small issues, I get really excited around children and have been known to greet them with a little it too much excitement, but with your direction I calm down.  I would love a quiet home, with not too much excitement, with a person who has an interest in teaching me new things.  I'd do best in a home without children, other dogs or cats.

ADOPTED!

POTTER

Potter is +/- 8 year old Shepherd / Lab mix.  He is not fixed yet but is utd on his shots.  He has lived his entire life outdoors, full time.

Because his life was alone outside, he doesn’t know any commands, pulls on leash, and is not house-trained but his foster is working on those with him.

He is a moderate energy level, was calm in his kennel, shy and insecure with people, not aggressive, just scared.  He’s ok with physical manipulations if he knows the person.  He doesn’t take treats from hand, will take if on the ground.  He’s independent with other dogs, will go sniff the other dogs and continue on his way.  He was too stressed in the kennel to play.  He freezes if you grab him by surprise.  He also has some medical issues so in light of his all this we are seeking a home without children.

Potter was surrendered by his owner because his medical issues were too expensive for them.

He has a grade 1-2 out of 6 heart murmur, 3 teeth in front are dead and need extraction, a small mass on his thorax and another small mass close to his anus.  Ulcerated mass 4cm in diameter by -cm thick on his left front wrist.

ADOPTED!

COREY

Corey is a black & white tuxedo domestic short hair neutered male.  He is fully vaccinated and housetrained.

Corey arrived as a stray in a shelter in Quebec. He had wounds and abscesses, most likely from a cat fight from having to protect himself out on the streets. He healed and is ready to find his forever home. He's great with cats, dogs and people. He's a very chill, easy-going cat who loves to play and cuddle!

Adopted!

VERA

Meet Vera, the bravest of them all!

Vera arrived as a feral 8 wk old kitten - she spit, she hissed, she growled, she attacked, she did whatever she had to to make sure you didn't come near her. In 2 months you’d never guess she started out that way - she now LOVES human attention, she seeks you out looking for loving, loves to cuddle, loves to be pet and can’t pass up a good chin rub! She can be a little wary of strangers at first but after a couple minutes of hanging out and giving her time she checks you out.

Vera is good with small dogs and cats. She is best suited to a home with one of her siblings or to a home with a current playful cat.

Vera is playful, cuddly, loves to hangout in a human lap, always with her siblings, and very adventurous.

Adopted!

KILI

Adopted!

CHANCE

Chance is a 9 year old male neutered yellow lab. He weighs roughly 90lbs, is in good health, and up to date on his vaccines.

Chance is a very loving dog who loves his people, cuddles and walks. He is a docile dog, but gets very excited when people first arrive and will jump up, but soon settles.

Chance loves kids and is very patient with them. He is fully house-trained and has never shown aggression towards anyone.  He lived with a beagle previously.

Chance loves to go in the car, but faces motion sickness on long car drives.

Chance is just looking for a forever home to give all his love to.

Adopted!

MAYA

Maya is a 1 year old female Yorkshire Terrier/ Maltese cross  spayed and up to date on shots.  She is a moderate energy level.

She needs a patient home that will give her the time and space to become comfortable and feel secure without undo stress or pressure as she is a very nervous, shy girl.

Although she is very shy and nervous at first and wants to snap when anxious, she is affectionate once she knows you.  She is nervous of big dogs but independent with small dogs.  She runs away from sudden movements, and will jump and step back with loud noises.  If you grab her, she wants to snap.  Her owner surrendered her because she snaps at the granddaughter.

She pulls a little bit on the leash and does not know any commands, so we think she just does not know what is expected of her, which is why a supportive patient home is just what she needs to blossom.

She moves and sniffs around in new environments and is ok with physical manipulations if she knows the person.

Adopted!

MAMA GENNY

Mama Genny is looking for her forever home! She will not be able to leave until her milk dries up so she can be spayed and have her dental, but we are accepting applications for her. Meets can be arranged until she is ready to go.

Mama Genny is the most perfect cat - you can do whatever you want with her, she loves to cuddle, wants to be held and cuddled 24/7.  She’s great with kids, cats and dogs, and is the most laid back easy-going girl. Give her some attention and she will be the happiest cat in the world!

Mama Genny is about 1.5 - 2 years old.  She only weighs less than 7 lbs full grown.  She will be spayed, fully vaccinated, dewormed, flea treated, microchipped and have dental work done, for an adoption fee of $170.

LOUISE

Louise arrived to us from a high-intake shelter in Quebec, arriving there as a stray with 2 other cats. She is a beautiful 1 year old female light brown tabby with white. She is spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, flea treated and microchipped.

Louise can be a little shy at first but within a matter of minutes she becomes a super friendly, confident girl. She LOVES humans so so so much and always wants to be with them. She is constantly looking for a human lap to hangout in and will snuggle up beside you at night.

Louise right now prefers to be head of the pack, the queen role she always wanted. She is not aggressive with other cats, just hisses to tell them she is boss. She would be fine with submissive, laid-back cats with proper introductions. She has not been tested with dogs or children but she may be fine with either.

Adopted!

LOUIS

Louis is a 3 - 4 yr old brown tabby with white. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, dewormed, flea treated and microchipped.

Louis arrived to us from a high-intake shelter in Quebec last weekend. He arrived there as a stray with 2 other cats. He has needed some time to settle in and truly feel comfortable but now is showing his true colours.

Louis loves to cuddle with people and will shove himself into you just to get more attention. He is a not a fan of being picked up but will stretch up on your legs to get some pets. He HATES doors being closed with a passion and will let you know. He prefers to snuggle in bed with you at night so hopefully you have some spare space to offer him!

Food is the way to this boys heart, he gets so excited to eat and will kneed the ground while munching away.

Louis gets along with cats but prefers calmer cats. He is not a fan of the foster’s dogs so would be best in a home with no dogs.

Adoped!

MOUSE

Friendly 10 year old Mouse is great with cats and people and loves attention!  Sadly, she was 4-paw declawed and has also had all her teeth removed due to major mouth disease.  She has found a wonderful new home!

FERAL #6

This lovely male brown & white tabby feral doesn't charge humans, but does gives warning to stay away.  His age is unknown.  He has been adopted by the same family as Ferals #4 and #5, and the three of them will enjoy a life of continued freedom, yet still have their needs met by their Adopter.

Adopted!

FERAL #5

This pretty 2 year old feral cat is ok with human touches but really not keen to be near humans. She prefers to continue having an outdoor/barn life, so she was adopted along with Feral #4 & #6 into a great barn home, where she will live free yet still have her needs met by her adopter.

Adopted!

FERAL #4

This feral male cat is 7 months old.  He hates humans and will try to jump at you!  He prefers to continue to live wild and free, so he has been adopted, along with Ferals #5 and #6, as a barn cat, where he will continue to live free but still have his needs met by his adopter, who is very glad to have him!

4yrs old

Neutered male

4paw declawed

Bobby was surrendered as his owner thought feeding him special vet food was too much work. Bobby is on vet prescribed urinary food as he once had crystals over a year ago. He is a real sweetheart, loves to play, loves to talk, and has an easy going personality. Bobby is better in a quieter home as loud noises scare him.

Adopted!

SYDNEY

Sydney is a lovely blue merle Border Collie/Australian Shep mix.  She turned 10 years old Dec. 4, 2018.  She is spayed and up to date on her shots.  Her owners are both very ill and can no longer keep her, they want to ensure she finds a perfect new forever home.

She is a friendly girl, likes people, good with other dogs and children, cats unknown.

Typical of her breed, Sydney is a high energy dog, and thus can become anxious at times.  She will either whine or bark and get excited when the doorbell rings, or a strange noise or new people. She is good with other dogs at the kennel she occasionally boards at, but does get a bit anxious when seeing other dogs when leashed during walks.

Sydney's foster mom says she is a really great dog, friendly and gets along great with her other dogs.

Sydney would do best in a home that understands the breeds' high energy and can provide the physical and mental stimulation she needs.

COURTESY POST - adopted

CROSBY

Crosby is a bishon-mix, 2 1/2 years old, gets along with kids and other dogs.

He’s energetic, not too bad on a leash (we’re working on it). He loves to play with toys and other dogs. Tends to walk in circles when bored or stressed. House-trained and  crate-trained.

Crosby’s a good little dog, but a bit weird. I’m fairly certain it’s lack of training and boundaries. He’s hyper so may do best in a home without other dogs where he can be the main attraction.

4 months old (DOB : Oct 27, 2018)

Males - all neutered

Vaccinated

Peanut has been adopted but Butter & Jelly are still available to be adopted to the same home only, we will not be splitting them up into separate homes as they are very bonded.

These 4-month old male Russian Blue Mix litter-mates, Peanut, Butter and Jelly, arrived semi-feral, meaning their first 8 wks of life resulted in limited to no human contact. It took lots of patience, time and effort to make these little boys come around. They are still wary and nervous of strangers and will need owners who will take the time to build their confidence and bond with them.

They are always rough housing, searching for each other to snuggle with and always playing together, theyd love a home together or a home with another playful cat.

Peanut is the most social, always wanting to sit in your lap, needs attention 24/7, and always purring.

Butter is an independent boy but also loves his human attention. He will crawl onto a lap and sit on top of them so he can have the attention.

Jelly is very independent, he wants attention when he wants it but will roll over for belly rubs any chance he gets.

They are searching for a home either together or with another playful (rough-housing) cat. They are good with cats and dogs and would be best suited to a home with older children 15+. They will be neutered next week, 2 vaccines, dewormed x 3, flea treated, and microchipped.

Adopted!
